Anna Mae meets Brian Wilkie ...

by Anna Mae

Hey everybody,

An incredible journey has reached its end. I enjoyed our project "Anna Mae meets Brian Wilkie" very much. Brian and I rehearsed, played new songs, recorded them at the studio and eventually shared our thoughts with you guys during our showcase at Jazzkantine in Luzern, Switzerland on September 18th. Thank you everyone for coming, the ambiance and energy was great down there, singing & dancing all over the place, thanks to you!

I also would like to thank Jazzkantine for offering us to play our show in this very special location. Furhtermore I'd love to show my appreciation to the band: you make my music sound so tasty! Thank you: Gabriel Yaacoub (a-git), Steffen Peters (bass) and Lukas Blattner (drums).

Of course a huge THANK YOU goes to Brian Wilkie from Chicago IL! Thank you for taking the chance to join the project and make one of my visions come true. You have such a great talent and it was an honor for me to play with you on my side. Thanks for taking the trip to Switzerland!

A bunch of people have been involved in one way or another to make this very project happen. I'd like to mention them below in order to show how thankful I am for their support.

- Sister Cities Luzern-Chicago with Claudia, Otto and Stefan (residency in Luzern)
- Gelbes Haus in Luzern with Oskar and Roland
- Laura and Paul for organizing affordable flights with Swiss
- Chicago artist Serene Wise for your inspiring work
- Gina Burri in Luzern for the graphics
- Stephanie for your support during the showcase
- Steve for helping us out by lending us your pedal steel guitar
- Gabriel for offering us your great sounding electric guitar
- Silvia for driving us around town
- Remo for helping us out with cables for guitar and pedal steel
- Andy for your Fender Blues Junior Amp that made the steel sound so nice
- Modul Kultwerbung with Marco for spreading the word regarding showcase
- Old Town Record Store in Luzern with Adi for being a fantastic record store partner
- my partner Daniel for all your support during the last three weeks

A project like this always starts with a first step that needs to be taken. Sometimes we have to be courageous, sometimes naiv. Sometimes we need to be burning, and sometimes we need to come down to settle our thoughts. Whatever effort it might take, we should never give up on dreaming and especially: never give up in believing that we can still make this world a better place. Let's spread peace and love around the world - because we can.

Thank you all,
Anna Mae
